Question Microsoft Security Essentials + ZA Free 9 = BSOD

    Hello,

I enjoy using ZA Free as it's a solid firewall that protects incoming & outgoing connections, however, as someone who fixes computers (for friends, friends of friends & family) I try to keep the software free & easy for them to update so....

After reading about how good the Microsoft Security Essentials is as a free anti-virus, I went to install it on a few computers I had set up to fix. I wanted to combine that particular A/V with ZA Free & no matter what I did on both Win 7 setups, upon rebooting, BSOD. It didn't matter which program I installed first, if they were both running they locked up the system then a BSOD would follow.

I just thought I'd pass along the issue. Unfortunately, I ended up just setting up some advanced rules in the Win 7 firewall for them to better protect them. Any ideas as to what could be causing this?

    George,

I had a feeling you'd post something like that (but it still fails to give me any reason why zonealarm & MSE don't play nice).

I have this link though: http://lifehacker.com/5433229/micros...free-antivirus

In the end I'm just curious as to the conflict that is occurring here.
