    Default Windows Calculator

Recently Windows Calculator has been opening multiple times as soon as I'm logged in to Windows. ZoneAlarm, SuperAntiSpyware, and Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware don't remove the problem.

Here are the Startup items in MSCONFIG/Startup:
RTHDCPL, ALCMTR, wspss, Reader_sl, jusched, zlclient, ForceField, ctfmon, KirbyAlarm.

    The registry HKLM\...\CurrentVersion\Run contains:
Adobe Reader Speed Launcher, Alcmtr, ISW, RTHDCPL, SunJavaUpdateSched, Windows Spyware/PopUp Stopper Service, ZoneAlarm Client

Any ideas on what's causing this?

    Thanks
    Barry

You don't tell us what Windows OS you are using or which ZA product you have. I have never seen this behavior with the Windows Calculator on my WinXP Pro SP3 PCs, both running ZA Internet Security Suite.

What makes you think the problem is related to ZA?

    ZoneAlarm Security Suite version:9.1.008.000
    TrueVector version:9.1.008.000
    Driver version:9.1.008.000
    Anti-virus engine version:8.0.2.42
    Anti-virus signature DAT file version:1000036032
    AntiSpam version:6.0.0.2383

    Windows XP SP3

Only that ZA is my anti-virus software and it didn't take care of the problem. It seems this forum would be the logical place to find a solution. If you can suggest a better approach -I'm open.

    Thanks again

    Hi and welcome!
If it is a malware problem you should review the standard cleaning procedure including having your system checked by malware experts (links towards the end of the procedure). If it is not a malware issue it will be the first time as user of ZA (7 years) that I hear ZA causing the opening of the windows calculator. At least you have been very original

    Thanks for your kind welcome.

I never actually believed that ZA was the cause of the problem, only that it didn't fix the problem. Is your assumption due to this being the "Security Issues" forum. Perhaps you can suggest a more appropriate forum for this issue.

Also, curiously enough, the problem has stopped -reason unknown, at least for the time being.

And thanks for the "Standard Cleaning Procedure".

    Regards

    Hi!
uuuhm, I would have no idea how to fix the issue.

You may want to try to post your problem (if it comes back) in a more general support boards like http://forums.techguy.org/.
