    Default ZA 9.1.008 blocks TClock

    Ever since installing the latest version (9.1.008), I am unable to run TClock on my WinXP SP3 computer. The message I get when I try to run TClock is:
    |||
    Error
    failed to start TClock.: 5
    |||

    I've also uploaded the error dialog box to
    http://www.sendspace.com/file/0wv29q

    What can I do to change this? OS Firewall is off since I don't use it. And I was able to reproduce this on two computers running ZA Pro 9.1.008. After uninstalling this version of ZA, TClock could be run again.

    I don't use ZA Pro, but when you open Control Center, does it have a list of programs under Program Control>Programs? If so, is the executable file for TClock listed? If so, make sure it has Super Trust Level. If the TClock executable is not listed, then try adding it manually using the "Add" button.

    It is listed. It was added after the first reboot (i.e. after installing ZA), and it functioned normally in that session. However, after the 2nd reboot the error appeared and the application couldn't get started again.

    The only thing that comes to mind is that ZA keeps some restrictions even after you disable certain functionality (in this case, my main suspect is "OS Firewall"). (I remember that I had problems connecting to various IM services with Pidgin quite a long time ago, even though I had disabled IM security long before that.)

    Other than that, all applications have "ask", and none has "trust" or even "super trust". I've always had it like that.

    I've never used TClock, so I have no other ideas. It may be best for you to contact ZA tech support live chat. Here is their link:

    Hi!
    Go to ZA icon near the clock --> Select "Shutdown ZoneAlarm..."
    Does it work now? If not, it is not ZA.

    Cheers,

    Yes, TClock works fine without Zone Alarm (as well as with version 7.0.483 which I had before).

    TClock or TClockX?
    If TClockX by Dale Nurden
    http://www.rcis.co.za/dale/tclockex/
    it uses DDE technology which can sometimes be a signal of dangerous activities, so needs to be permitted since ZA must see it's components etc as a potential trouble. If ZA blocks it, so does another firewall in case its any consolation

    Actually it's this one:
    http://homepage1.nifty.com/kazubon/t...ght/index.html

    My main use for it is synchronizing system time and customizing the taskbar+tray.

    Maybe I should turn OS Firewall back on, wait for some time, and try again. :S
