I have a properly licensed version of ZoneAlarm Extreme Security that may be having a problem updating its anti-virus/anti-spyware signatures.
When I check for updates through the ZoneAlarm interface, the normal pop-ups aobut contacting the ZA server for updates appear. Upon completion, the status message shows:
Downloaded an update
Up to date
Despite rebooting and rerunning the update repeatedly, I never see a message that the AV/AS update has been installed or that the AV/AS signatures are up to date.
Overview - Product Info displays the following:
ZoneAlarm Extreme Security version:9.1.008.000
TrueVector security engine version:9.1.008.000
Anti-virus/Anti-spyware engine version:220.127.116.11, DAT file version:1009224416
ZoneAlarm ForceField 18.104.22.168
I saw another message in this forum posted by GeorgeV on 01/01/2010 at 06:39 AM that shows his AV/AS signature as 1009225824.
Since that's a higher version than mine, I presume that his is newer.
Is my DAT file current?
If so, why doesn't the update tell me that it's "up to date"?
If not, are there any ideas what might be blocking the update?
If there is a problem, is there any way to fix it?
Is there a manual procedure to download and install the AV/AS signatures outside the ZA application update option?
