Cool invalid page event log id 6281 > never use the event log to look at real ZA issues

    Hello everyone,
I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium with Zone Alarm Extreme Security. I check the event logs periodically, but can't always interpret them without help. As this latest concerns my security product, I would appreciate your advice. The security log has recorded many audit failures, as follows:

Code Integrity determined that the page hashes of an image file are not valid. The file could be improperly signed without page hashes or corrupt due to unauthorized modification. The invalid hashes could indicate a potential disk device error.
    File Name: \Device\HarddiskVolume1\Program Files\CheckPoint\ZAForceField\Plugins\ISWSHEX.dll

    and...

    File Name: \Device\HarddiskVolume1\Program Files\CheckPoint\ZAForceField\AK\icsak.dll

I have ARP Protection enabled, the hosts file locked, virtualization off, and other settings on high alerts. (Note that my willingness to explore event logs and change defaults does not necessarily correlate to a specific level of expertise--I learn as I go, following instructions, but sometimes need simple language ;-)

I'm getting the same message. I tried to give it a digital signature & that didn't work. I don't think there is any adverse impact to this but it is a nuisance. Windows has a lot of 'non-error' errors that can safely be ignored but I don't know which can & can't be.

    Anyone got a clue?

I get the same windows security event log entries, frequently. Very annoying.

I am running the latest ZoneAlarm Extreme Security v9.3.037.00 on Windows 7 Pro 64-bit with latest Windows Updates.

Does anyone know why these audit failures are occurring and how to fix them?

Interesting. I tried using the Live Support channel but they do not trouble-shoot event log entries if, otherwise, the product appears to be functioning correctly. In other words, event log entries by themselves are not considered ZA defects worth trouble-shooting through this channel.

Given that such event log entries are not a new symptom, it surprises me that at least some details about their possible causes and potential solutions are not posted in this forum.

I was given instructions on use of the built-in diagnotic tool, instead, and will try that channel.

Its the same channel. This is how support can investigate the issue and escalate to the development team.
Keep following up with them to ask for confirmation they actually received the logs correctly.

I have the same problem also. Tech support said the same thing.
    Running W7 64-bit. I wonder if it is a 64-bit problem only?
It is kind of disconcerting that the event viewer says "System
Integrity" error under Event ID 6281. At least it is only an
"Information" event error and not an admin error.

BTW, I tried clean install and disabling the toolbar and
those do not solve the problem ~Snip~.

There will always be event log entries caused by the OS and other application including ZA

ZA does not see event log entries as meaning there is ANY issue with ZA.

This is why there not investigated at all. In the past they didn't ever turn up anything and was a huge waste of time and resources to track down.

If your having a real issue and ZA is misbehaving report what the ZA issues and not an event log.

We also never use the event log to look at real ZA issues.
Its just not a good reference to determine issues for ZA
