Post [SOLVED] ZES 2010 HD Encryption Detecting Laptop as Desktop --> Missing battery

I'm trying to install ZoneAlarm Extreme Security's full hard drive encryption on my Dell E1705 laptop. Installation fails, telling me it cannot install encryption on a desktop. How do I convince the installer that I have a laptop?

I have read the Readme and reviewed the information linked. I see nothing which is an apparent conflict. Thank you for the suggestions, though. I'll contact support Monday.

Thumbs up Re: ZES 2010 HD Encryption Detecting Laptop as Desktop

Per ZA Technical Support, HD Encryption identifies a laptop by detecting the laptop battery.

My battery is long dead and recycled, so the installer identifies my Laptop as a Desktop. I guess I'll finally have to replace the battery.

This issue is not unique to ZA. I recently learned that Dell Laptop BIOS upgrades won't work without a battery.

Thank you all for your assistance.
