Thread: update or downgrade?

    Default update or downgrade?

Recently got a notice on my screen from ZA strongly recommending upgrade to newer version.
[ I do not use ZA for spyware. I am happy with the one I've used since 2003 so I turn the spyware option in ZA off. ]

After the upgrade, I no longer can turn the ZA spyware option off - not there! - and am forced to have it on. Please tell me how to get this off. Not impressed one bit, though Microsoft does this sort of thing a lot.

I feel I need to add: I used Vet Antivirus ( became CA eventually) from about 1997 till a couple of years ago. When the zone Alarm update became an antivirus
the ZA update would not allow me to keep CA
Za would not work till i got rid of CA
unistalling CA then installing ZA then reinstaling CA did to work
neither app would allow the other to be on the computer
I wasted an endless amount of time trying to sort it and emailed both companies
neither company would give, so I finally bought ZA antivurus (security suite) and uninstalled CA
    Not a happy circumstance

Are we now going to have the same scene with the antspyware? I kept ZA antivirus off and run Spybot (highly regarded by test for well over a decade and free)
Now, (after upgrade) I can't turn ZA antispyware off but I can still run Spybot. Will the next upgrade tell me I have to get rid of Spybot?

I'm sorry, But if you Do not want to use some of the Features that come with the Paid Versions of Zone Alarm, you should not Chose any Type of Zone Alarm with Anti-Virus..

New unified anti-virus and anti-spyware engine:
    • Scans 80%-90% faster and combines anti-virus and anti-spyware into one scan
    • More advanced scan options- riskware, ADS, heuristic scanning, and more exception options
    • Additional on-access scan controls
    • On-access scanning now detects spyware

NOTICE: Please note that ZASS and ZAXS do not play nice with many overlapping security tools (even if disabled).

To troubleshoot ZASS/ZAXS issues removethe other Security programs and (if you can't live without the other Security programs - Not Recomended) - Only re-install them once you see that ZA works as it should.

For example, the Following programs do not work well with ZoneAlarm, Kaspersky (KAV) or (KISS),Norton/Symantec, McAfee,AVG, Spyspweeper, NOD32, Spyware Doctor, trojan hunter, adware, SpyBotSearch & Destroy, PC tools Threat Fire, any other Anti-virus, Anti-spyware, Registry Guard or locking tools, etc...

***> That means if you don't want ZA AV/As you have three other Choices..

    1.) Zone Alarm Pro,
    2.) Zone Alarm Free Basic
3.) or Uninstall Zone alarm and Choose some other Product..

You may contact Customer Support Directly by clicking Support in my signature and downgrade to ZA Pro or request a Refund..

I will now close this Thrend to prevent OFF-Topic Debate..

Feel free to start a new Thrend if you have another problem with Zone Alarm..
