    Question Detection of new networks

    ZoneAlarm Extreme Security Version 9.1.008.000
    Windows XP Pro

I have recently added a Linksys model # WUSB600N to my laptop. It works fine; however, every time I boot up, I receive a pop-up from ZA informing me that a new network has been found and what do I want to do with it. I have tried all of the configuration options that I thought would eliminate this nuisance without success. Since the MAC does not change, I cannot figure out why ZA does not simply recognize the card and not annoy me with an annoying pop-up.

Does anyone know how I can eliminate this problem?

    Hi!
there could be two different issues. Either your ZA is corrupted and settings are not kept or you are using a third party software for the management of the wireless connection.

For the the latter case please let XP to control your wireless and not a third party software. I don't know specifically how is the that peripheral configuration but commonly there should be an option for letting the OS to control the process. Of course you need to ensure your XP is with all service packs (SP3) and fully patched.

If instead your wireless is already managed by XP alone then try to reset the ZA settings:

1.) Hold down the Ctrl and Shift keys together
2.) Right click on the ZA icon near your clock
3.) Choose 'Reset' from the box that comes up
4.) Choose Yes on the Reset Settings dialog box
5.) When prompted, choose OK to restart your system
6.) Follow the on screen configuration prompts after reboot

    Hope this helps!

    Cheers,
    Fax
