    Angry AV Update Errors

    Hi

    Thought I would let everybody know there maybe issues with the update server again, mine has just stopped working, i have been onto online tech support and heres the conversation:

    Kelly: Thank you for contacting ZoneAlarm Technical Support. How may I help you today?

    Nanker: Hi is there a problem with the update server for the antivirus, I am getting the following message: "Error: download error!

    Kelly: There was an issue a few days ago, but that should be resolved now.

    Nanker: Its contacting the server getting to 12% and then the download error is appearing

    Kelly: Ok, I'm checking a few of the machines here to see if we also get that error. One moment please

    Kelly: It looks like the AV servers may be down temporarily again, since our machines are experiencing the same issues here. I have reported the issue, and hopefully this will be fixed within the next 24-48 hours again.

    Nanker: Kelly thanks for that thought I might have a nasty in the system, have run a fullscan and just running a rootkit now

    Kelly: OK, great. I'm sorry for the inconvenience; hopefully this will be rectified soon

    I had the same issue 4 times in some months now. Still using my ZASS till the end of my subscription and maybe upgrade to ZAEXtreme but i hope so much that these issues are resolved

    Default zone alarm update error

    I have 9.1.008.000 loaded. I am receiving messages to download an update. The download keeps failing. What should I do to obtain a clean download.

    Exclamation Your Anti-Virus Needs a Signature !

    ~ Can't update anti-virus software. Download continually aborting, with:
    "error. download error" message appearing about 2 minutes into the process.

    ~ Also ~ From the ZA - Product Info - Overview screen the link: for technical support click here is NOT working. Nor is the renew link.

    Both IP addresses are in the trusted zone.

    Any ideas ????

    The AV/AS update issue has been resolved.


    It may take several more hours to propagate to the worldwide AV/AS update servers depending where your located.

    Hi!
    yes, it seems a known issue see first post.
    Moved all AV error posts in one.

    Server propagation may need 12/48 hours.
    It works find at my end.

    You can look at your AV update log. On Windows systems it is located at C:\WINNT\Internet Logs\avupdate.log (or C:\WINDOWS\Internet Logs\avupdate.log). It is a text file; load into Notepad. The last few lines I have been seeing during this latest update problem and copied to Tech Support Chat last week:

    First attempt to manually update today:
    2/20/2010 7:54:26: Index downloaded second time, but the version on the source is the same 20022010 1255
    2/20/2010 7:54:26: Total 426473 bytes downloaded
    2/20/2010 7:54:26: ******** Update operation result Invalid file signature ********
    2/20/2010 7:54:26: Connection to HTTP server is closed by updater


    Second attempt to manually update today:
    2/20/2010 8:05:18: Index downloaded second time, but the version on the source is the same 20022010 1255
    2/20/2010 8:05:18: Total 426473 bytes downloaded
    2/20/2010 8:05:18: ******** Update operation result Invalid file signature ********
    2/20/2010 8:05:18: Connection to HTTP server is closed by updater

    Growing weary. I am a long-time user of ZoneAlarm. Now testing other suites for a possible replacement.

    Since the Fix on Wednesday, I have been getting Regular AV Updates, althought not as many as usuall, and On Friday AM there was a 6-8 hour Pause, when a few users Reportede Errors..
    But Friday Night and Saturday Morning I have been Receiving AV Updates OK..

    I rcomend that You Contact ZA Tech Suppo0rt Directly with Details of your computer and Software..

    Unfortunately The Live Chat is closed on Weekends..

    Whenever posting here- or Contacting ZA Tech Support, it is always advisable to list your:Windows OS (XP SP 2-3 / Vista SP1-2 / Windows 7 32-Bit/64-Bit), your ZoneAlarm product Type (Free,Pro,AV, Suite,Extreme) and ZA version number (7.0,8.0,9.0,9.1), Brand of Computer and CPU, is it a DeskTop or Laptop, List any other Security Programs installed.
