Question Antispyware Scan Freezes at 99%

    Hello:

When I run the Anti Spyware scan it freezes at 99%. ZA Security Suite stops responding, and I have to end the ZA via the TaskManager. I then need to reboot the PC to get ZASS working again.

AS DAT file version is: 01.201002.7165
    AS Engine Version is: 5.0.189.0

Would it be recommended to wait till the next AS update. Or Should I do a system restore back a day or so?

    Thanks in advance:

    -Eliuri

    Hi!
unfortunately ZA standalone Antispyware engine has been phased out and is not anymore supported for both ZA 7 and 8.

ZA 7 also has a very old antivirus engine that do not provide the same level of protection of latest one.
Security tools are constantly updated to keep up with modern malware.

If you are not able to update to the latest version of ZA (we are now at 9.1), I warmly recommend you to move to another up-to-date security solution.

Running an old security tool is like running no tool.

    Cheers,

The AntiSpyware is listed as a feature on the products page, so the advertising is false?

Not really, Both the old AV and Anti-Spyware engines have been Replaced by a New Improved more Efective Unified AV/AS Engine..

    • New unified anti-virus and anti-spyware engine:
      • Scans 80%-90% faster and combines anti-virus and anti-spyware into one scan
      • More advanced scan options- riskware, ADS, heuristic scanning, and more exception options
      • Additional on-access scan controls
      • On-access scanning now detects spyware

    • Note: To streamline in an age where web privacy controls are built into the most popular browsers and email attachment scanning is included in the major email applications, privacy controls and inbound MailSafe have been removed with this release

Edited my initial feedback to make it clearer!
No false advertisment, simply unrealistic to think to release a security suite without spyware protection.
