Default ZA 7.0 virus scan/spyware problem

I have had ZA 7.0 installed on my machine for the last 4 years. All going well until a few months ago. The PC uses Windows XP Home & has 2 user accounts. 1 account when logging of gives the message that ZA is trying to shutdown. The other a/c is unaffected. However after logging off the opening of any a/c requires a complete boot up to have ZA start at startup for both a/c's. The virus/spyware scans stop showing the files scanned at certain points during the scans. All updates running fine. All firewall processes fine. But unsure whether the virus/spyware scans are doing the jobs.

I've uninstalled & reinstalled which worked fine at 1st but have now settled back into the old ways.

    Can you please advise.

ZA 7.0 is Very old Software, In order to keep up with the changes that Hackers and Virus writers make, Security Software must alway change and Evolve to stay one step ahead of the Hackers and Virus writers *** YOU MUST UPDATE Windows and your Security Software.. ***

Whenever posting here- or Contacting ZA Tech Support, it is always advisable to list your:Windows OS (XP SP 2-3 / Vista SP1-2 / Windows 7 32-Bit/64-Bit), your ZoneAlarm product Type (Free,Pro,AV, Suite,Extreme) and ZA version number (7.0,8.0,9.0,9.1), Brand of Computer and CPU, is it a DeskTop or Laptop, List any other Security Programs installed.

It is Sometimes very Difficult to Diagnose and fix a Computer from halfway across the Country,
without All the Details, without the ability to sit in front of your Computer monitor and see what's going on..

B.) It looks like your Upgrade Install may Have been Corrupted durring Download or install proccess.
The Best Fix for this problem is to Uninstall the Corrupte Version.. and download a fresh copy of ZA 9.1 and do a Clean re-install.

The simplest procedure is to :

1.) Download the Latest installer preferably with IE Browser and no Download Manager/accelerator like Get-Right, Livewire, Bit-Torrent, uTorrent and save it to your Hard drive.

(MultiPlatform, installer will install on Both WinXP SP3 and Vista and Windows7)

    ZAFREE http://download.zonelabs.com/bin/fre...seHistory.html
    ZAP http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/free/information/zap/releaseHistory.html
    ZAAV http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/fr...seHistory.html
    ZASS http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/fr...seHistory.html
    ZAXS http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/free/information/zaxs/releaseHistory.html

2.) Before you Uninstall your current ZA, UNcheck "Load ZA... at startup" (under Overview - Preferences tab)

3.) Reboot the Computer. So that vsmon.exe/TrueVector will be removed from Memory

4.) Now use the new ZoneAlarm Removal Tool: Click here http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/fr...cpes_clean.exe

Save to desktop, right click and "run as administrator" This tool will remove all ZoneAlarm products from your system.

Please just download and run the tool, following the instructions. (you can un-install without net connections)

5.) Now Install the new update (clean) and Accept the default Setting, Auto-Learn Mode and Choose Trusted Zone, not Internet Zone..

*** NOTICE: Please note that ZASS and ZAXS do not play nice with many overlapping security tools (even if disabled).

To troubleshoot ZASS/ZAXS issues removethe other Security programs and (if you can't live without the other Security programs - Not Recomended) - Only re-install them once you see that ZA works as it should.

*** For example, the Following programs may not work well with ZoneAlarm, Kaspersky (KAV) or (KISS),Norton/Symantec, McAfee,AVG, Spyspweeper, NOD32, Spyware Doctor, trojan hunter, adware, SpyBotSearch & Destroy, PC tools Threat Fire, any other Anti-virus, some Anti-spyware, Registry Guard or locking tools, etc...
