    Angry Unable to open programs?

Hey, I was recently infected with the av.exe virus. I was able to "kill" it with ZA by using the program control, but now anytime I try to open anything, I get a message that reads "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item." Normally, the program will open anyway, as in the case of IE, or I can open it by right-clicking and choosing "run as progam administrator," but for Microsoft Office tools, I can't open it at all. How do I fix this problem?

    Thanks.

Edit: For some reason, there is a mad-face next to my thread title. It was supposed to be an exclaimation mark....

Unhappy Re: Unable to open programs?

That's great and everything, but I already read that thread. I'm not even sure where I am at in the process of fixing my problem. Didn't I already get rid of av.exe? Do I just need to purge the windows system restore points? Thanks.

    Yes..

Any Restore Points that were created while your computer was infected,
will Re-infect your computer if you Restore to a point when your computer was infected..

Angry Re: Unable to open programs?

Well, I'm not able to access the properties of My Computer when I right-click the My Computer icon, so I can't comply with the instructions on how to turn off system restore points. When I try to do so, I get a message from ZA saying that "av.exe was a malicious program and was prevented from running on your computer. Click here for details."

How do I get around this roadblock??
