Smile [SOLVED] Installing ZA Extreme security on Vista "need SP1 installed"

    Hi

I just paid for the Xtreme version download, but I'm getting a "need SP1 installed" etc. I've been running ZA on different pc's for years now, but this is a new headache.

I've previously loaded just about every vista update known to man...and I already have SP1 and SP2 on this laptop. I had the same trouble when I tried to use the free firewall...it kept asking for SP1...I gave up and had no problem installing the trial version of the regular internet security suite.

When that ran out, I decided to upgrade to the Xtreme version, and here's that #@! "SP1 needed" window again. Of course, this is happening after I've already paid.

    Any tips on this?

Please download ZoneAlarm, make sure to save it and not run it.

Once done, right-click the installer, then click properties, and then click the compatibility tab.

Make sure that nothing is checked, and make sure that Windows Vista is not chosen.

Once done, click the apply button, click ok, and then install ZoneAlarm.

    Naivemelody...

I did download it first...and also this looks to be a Win7 install issues solution, not a Vista install issue. My installer does not have a Vista option since it already is Vista. It will roll back to XP, 2000, etc. In any case, this did not work.

Red face Re: Installing ZA Extreme security on Vista

It turns out that I'd installed (Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1), and the equivalent...not the actual SP1. It took some looking, but I eventually found the correct d/l through windows "what others are downloading) section.

Once I installed SP1 (and after that SP2), I had no trouble installing ZA Xtreme.

The pop up window was right, after all.

I'm moving to Hawaii on Sunday...and thus the urgency (a lot of balls in the air).

Thanks ZA help, and forum members.
