I get 2-4 (# varies but usually just 2) of these defunct iexplore processes reported in task manager as well. Internet searches do come up with this as a malware symptom but they all say the processes would be chewing up CPU time; none of the ones I get show any CPU usage. I did find a recommendation to use this http://nirsoft.net/utils/cports.html to see what address the process is connecting to and see that these processes are connecting internally (127.0.0.1). I also noted that the memory usage of one of the processes goes down after I close IE. Is this a botched close of IE virtual browsing? None of this occurs when I use Firefox.
