    Default Constant updating

    ZoneAlarm Anti-virus version:9.0.083.000
    TrueVector version:9.0.083.000
    Driver version:9.0.083.000
    Anti-virus engine version:8.0.1.33
    Anti-virus signature DAT file version:1013994336

This is driving me up the wall. I have tried setting to weekly updates, manual updates, and so on, but every time I turn on my computer, ZA updates. The little up-arrow icon flashes, says it's updating, goes away for five or ten minutes. Comes back, says it's updating, goes away. Might stay away for a while, but will be back if I turn the computer off, or sign out of my user for a while, and it makes everything soooo slo-o-o-o-o-o-ow that I want to uninstall it and switch to something else. Unfortunately, I have paid for my year's "service" and although ZA used to be my favourite and very reliable, this is no longer the case.

What the heck is up with all this updating? And how do I stop it short of uninstalling ZA altogether?

Old old old version of ZA.... we are at 9.1
Please update to the latest and when asked UNcheck the option to keep the ZA settings. You have to start clean.

    Latest ZA AV is here:

Downloading as I type. I'll be back to sing happy songs if this solves the problem.

Okay...I installed the latest version, unchecked the box as instructed, and changed to every 24 hours instead of every 3, and now I have another question. With the 24 hour frequency, should the update take more than 10 minutes? I ask this because this is what has been going on for at least 12 minutes...the arrow update icon appears for a bit, goes away, comes back, goes away, and on and on. This means my poor old computer is almost incapable of doing anything else, since its resources are tied up with the neverending update. I'm thinking I'm going to have to go to manual and see if that works. I'd really like to use my computer for something other than updating ZA. That would be da bomb.

    ** Edit **
I finally got the control panel to open, and it says the last completed update was at 8:29 this morning. So with a 24 hour schedule why did it attempt it again at 3:48 pm (my time)? It's now 4:20, by the way, and it's still trying...and is at a constant 0% as far as I can see, and won't let me cancel. *sigh*

No, it should not. You probably have other issues on the system.
Please note that 24h updates is not safe and open your system to possible infections.

I think its time to contact the official ZA support directly, its free for registered users. Link in my signature.
