    Default Setting File Scan Exceptions

I play Team Fortress 2. In order for the game to function, there is a file that must be updated through the internet on an extremely regular basis.
I want to set up zone alarm to not scan changes to this file, but I don't know how to set up an exception for this file.

Can anyone direct me on the process to set up a file exception?

Default Re: Setting File Scan Exceptions

This is only valid for retail versions of ZA.

You mean the file will connects out and then you need to allow it?
If yes, then go to ZA Program control --> Programs --> scroll the list for the file (note: filename may be different from file description, scroll carefully) --> right click on the file --> Options --> UNcheck "Authenticate Components" and check on "authenticate program by full path name only" (unless the file also change of location).

If you mean excluding file from virus/malware scan then:
You can exclude the file from the 'on-access' scanning under the advanced options of the antivirus/antispyware section (Virus Management --> Exceptions)
You can exclude the file from the 'on-demand' scanning under the advanced options of the antivirus/antispyware section (Scan targets)

    Cheers,
    Fax
P.S. Note that excluding files/folders can consitute a security risk.
