Default Extreme lag running programs with ZAISS

On frequent occasion, I get a very long delay to run an activity, such as to start a new program, open an email, open a document in WP, or change a directory in Total Commander. It is almost like it is doing a program scan. Every open program on the computer freezes up.

I can see in the taskbar that the ZA icon changes from the green-red bars to a Z while the lockup occurs. When the icon pops back to the green-red icon the lockup ceases. In program controls I have checked the particular programs as safe. I am not using ZA to check emails or to do on-access scanning. I have set ZA program control to various levels and to off and still have the lag problem. I set the debug level from default to off and it made no difference. I do not have this lag problem when I shutdown ZA.

I am running ZAISS v9.1.008 on Windows XP Home with SP3, with an AMD Phenom 9650 Quad-Core on an ECS-USA GeForce 6100PM-M2, with 4 GB DDR2.

Default Re: Extreme lag running programs with ZAISS

I reverted to 9.0.112.000, and the computer operated normally for a few days. Now again the computer is associated with freeze-ups in the middle of any application where I am not allowed to operate any other running process, happening perhaps every several minutes. The lag lasts for maybe two minutes at a time. I can see the ZA tray icon change from red/green to the Z each time. I do not have any real-time or email scanning set up in ZA, but that is how it is behaving.

I am ready to do a clean uninstall.

Is there a guru out there to advise me?

ZA 9.0.112.000 is no longer Supported.. Checkpoint recommends 9.1.507.000, or the previous 9.1.008.000..

Welcome to the Zone Alarm User Forum..

The Best Fix for this problem is to Uninstall the Corrupte Version.. and download a fresh copy of ZA 9.1 and do a Clean re-install.

The simplest procedure is to :

1.) Download the Latest installer preferably with IE Browser and no Download Manager/accelerator like Get-Right, Livewire, Bit-Torrent, uTorrent) and save it to your Hard drive.

(MultiPlatform, installer will install on Both WinXP SP3 and Vista and Windows7)

    ZASS http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/fr...seHistory.html

2.) Before you Uninstall your current ZA, UNcheck "Load ZA... at startup" (under Overview - Preferences tab)

3.) Reboot the Computer. So that vsmon.exe/TrueVector will be removed from Memory

4.) Now use the new ZoneAlarm Removal Tool: Click here http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/fr...cpes_clean.exe

Save to desktop, right click and "run as administrator" This tool will remove all ZoneAlarm products from your system.

Please just download and run the tool, following the instructions. (you can un-install without net connections)

5.) Now Install the new update (clean) and Accept the default Setting, Auto-Learn Mode and Choose Trusted Zone, not Internet Zone..

*** NOTICE: Please note that ZASS and ZAXS do not play nice with many overlapping security tools (even if disabled).

To troubleshoot ZASS/ZAXS issues removethe other Security programs and (if you can't live without the other Security programs - Not Recomended) - Only re-install them once you see that ZA works as it should.

*** For example, the Following programs may not work well with ZoneAlarm, Kaspersky (KAV) or (KISS),Norton/Symantec, McAfee,AVG, Spyspweeper, NOD32, Spyware Doctor, trojan hunter, adware, SpyBotSearch & Destroy, PC tools Threat Fire, any other Anti-virus, some Anti-spyware, Registry Guard or locking tools, etc...
