After upgrading both my WinXP Pro SP3 PCs I noticed a problem with the a-v/a-s settings. So far, I have only seen it on my laptop. I don't know for sure, but it may be due to the fact that I don't use the laptop every day, so when I am done for the day, I completely power it off. The desktop, on the other hand, is put into 'Sleep' mode at the end of the day, not powered off and not rebooted the next morning. A wiggle of the mouse and it 'wakes' up.
I also thought that it might have something to do with the fact that I installed this version over-the-top of the previous version, 9.1.008.000. See topic http://forums.zonealarm.com/showthread.php?t=73575
Prior to the installation of this release, I had gotten into the habit of using the clean removal tool, but thought I would give this method a try.
So yesterday (04/07/2010), I unchecked Load ZA at startup and rebooted the laptop. I then used the clean removal tool, rebooted the laptop when it finished and then reinstalled 9.1.507.000. I then let it complete the recommended 'baseline' scan. When it finished, it said the next scan would be done the next day (today, 04/08/2010, at 12:30 PM). Those results were all normal and expected. However, later, I experienced the same problem as after I had initially installed it on March 28. So, a clean removal and reinstall did NOT fix the problem.
I set my a-v/a-s Advanced Options the same as I always do:
Scan Schedule: Monthly 12:30 PMI powered the laptop off last night as I normally do. This morning, I booted it back up and checked the Advanced Options. They were still set as I had left them the day before. The scheduled scan started right on time at 12:30 PM. No infections were found and the settings were still the same after the scan. The last scan was shown as 04/08/2010 at 12:30 PM. The next scan was scheduled for 05/08/2010 at 12:30 PM (one month). Mid-afternoon, I powered down the laptop. Sometime later, I rebooted it and checked the a-v/a-s options. They had been changed to:
Updates: every 3 hours
Scan Modes: Normal Scan
Automatic Treatment: Alert me
Next Scan: 04/09/2010 12:30 PMI'm just wondering if anyone else has seen a-v/a-s option changing issues like this
Last Scan: No scan run
Scan Schedule: Monthly 12:30 PM
Scan Modes: Super Scan
Automatic Treatment: Try to repair
I'm going to try to shorten the text in this post and have a Live Chat with tech support to see if they have heard about this before or not.
