Default Do I have a virus? is there a Firewall in Adaware? Help!

I have Zone Alarm Free, which I have used for many, many years. It's a great program, and if I could afford it, I'd but the better version. However, recently, my computer has been so slow, and giving me virtual memory errors. Not only that, but my internet has been sporadic, and periodically my up and down streams hit zero for periods of time no matter what links I click. Mysteriously it begins to work again.

I have scanned my computer with Adaware, and AVG Free, and NOTHING comes up for either. I really think there is something wrong, but everything tells me I am adware and virus free!!

My problem is this: On startup, ZoneAlarm will pop up a dialog box that tells me it is "Initializing". I am able to use the internet during this time, but the dialog box will sometimes pop up once a minute for a long time! Like ZoneAlarm is unable to do what it needs to do to protect my computer! Coupled with everything else, this is alarming! Please help!

That Error indicates a Bad or Corrupted install of ZAFree..

or A conflict with a 2nd Firewall program..

The simplest procedure is to :

1.) Download the Latest installer preferably with IE Browser and no Download Manager/accelerator like Get-Right, Livewire, Bit-Torrent, uTorrent) and save it to your Hard drive.

(MultiPlatform, installer will install on Both WinXP SP3 and Vista and Windows7)

    ZAFREE http://download.zonelabs.com/bin/fre...seHistory.html

2.) Before you Uninstall your current ZA, UNcheck "Load ZA... at startup" (under Overview - Preferences tab)

3.) Reboot the Computer. So that vsmon.exe/TrueVector will be removed from Memory

4.) Now use the new ZoneAlarm Removal Tool: Click here http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/fr...load/clean.exe

Save to desktop, right click and "run as administrator" This tool will remove all ZoneAlarm products from your system.

Please just download and run the tool, following the instructions. (you can un-install without net connections)

5.) Now Install the new update (clean) and Accept the default Setting, Auto-Learn Mode and Choose Trusted Zone, not Internet Zone..

GeorgeV, hello! Remember me-I had the blank screen appear, and you recommended the same thing, then. I got it to work... I am wondering, is there a firewall in adaware?

I don't know, I don't use "adaware", but a good way to find out is to check Google.com (adaware review) will display a review with details of it's features..

Over the last several years, some Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware programs have added new features to their program, some emulate a firewall.. or Registry Guard?
