Default Free 9.1.007.002 Tray Icon Loading after browser

    Hi,
I have two computers both with the free ZA firewall. Both XP Pro sp3, same program configurations, though one is a laptop, one a desktop.

On one of the computers ZA loads right away, before the browser is operable. On the laptop, the firewall loads after browser is operable, 5-10 minutes later.

I use Avast, Firefox, Spywareblaster. Had everything disabled on both computers for ZA installation.

Ideally I would like my firewall to load first, or at least right after Avast.

    Thoughts and suggestions appreciated.
    Thanks!

    I'm Sorry for your confusion..

Zone Alarm Firewall loads as a Service, that Means that as soon at the Computer begins to Boot up, ZA is one of the Very first things to Load and begin protecting your Computer.. Long before you see anything display on the System tray on the lower Right..

The "Z" icon in the system tray is Only a GUI representation and load much later..

So don't worry, both your computers are equally protected..

The firewall program (zlclient.exe) gets loaded very early in the boot process. What you are seeing is a delay in getting just the ZA icon displayed in the system tray, not the actual firewall protection.

If you look at the 2 PCs configuration in my sig below this post, they are similar to yours. My laptop is older and slower and I will sometimes see the same thing - the ZA icon is almost the last thing to show up in the system tray. But, the firewall is already loaded, running and I am protected.

EDIT: Oops, GeorgeV got to the Enter key before I did. At least we both had essentially the same response.
