I am new to the form, so please forgive me if I have not posted this to the right area.
I am an IT Consultant and solve IT issues all the time for clients, but I have been unable to determine what, if any, resolve there is to this:
I have ZA Extreme Security - details:
ZoneAlarm Extreme Security version:9.1.008.000
Anti-virus engine version:18.104.22.168
Anti-virus signature DAT file version:1016993120
ZoneAlarm ForceField 22.214.171.124
ZoneAlarm ForceField Spyware Scanner 126.96.36.199
ZoneAlarm ForceField Anti-Phishing Database 188.8.131.52
ZoneAlarm ForceField Spyware Sites Database 04.080
I reboot my unit (this will happen on three different units) and the IE 8 browsers will not open when clicked on the icon, or from the Start Menu.
To be able to open my browser, I have to open Browser Security, then Forcefield, then the Settings button. In the Window that opens, I have to click on the Advanced Tab, then go down and uncheck Enable Virtualization. Once I do that and then click the OK button, the browser will immediately open on it's own. Next I close the browser. Now I click on the ZA Browser Security Settings' button (ZA I leave open from earlier) again and then back to Advanced tab, then click on the Clear Virtual Data button. Then I put a check back in the Enable Virtualization box immediately, then click OK. Now I close ZA and I can work normally. The browser open and closes and is in a virtualized mode.
I only have to do this once, after reboot, until I reboot again - or until I get the seperate issue of the keys being mis-mapped wrong by ZA (yes, I know, seperate issue).
This happens on three different units.
#1 eMachines PC (XP Pro sp3)
#2 HP Laptop (Win7 Pro)
#3 Toshiba Laptop (Win7 Ultimate) <-- This unit used to be Vista Home Prem and ZA did the same.
I want to point out that the prceedure described above has to be followed to a tee, or else the browser will not open. You cannot simply uncheck Enable Virtual, Clear Virtual, then recheck Enable Virtual, or any of all the possible ways you can think of to see if it will work. I have worked with this issue now for over a year, and this is the excact way to get my browser to open with virtual mode.
