Default [Solved] Windows Security Alert - Firewall / antivirus off

I am getting a red Windows Security Alert icon in my tool tray, along with the message that indicates my firewall and antivirus have not been detected by Windows. Zonealarm is running - firewall, antivirus, Forcefield, and in IE or Firefox I get the Forcefield menu bar indicating I am protected. Everything runs ok. There are no suspicious ads associated with this, so I don't suspect malware. I do notice that on bootup, the WSA alert shows up before ZoneAlarm loads (before the ZoneAlarm icon appears). I run XP SP3 with ZA Exreme Security 8. This has been going on for quite some time now, but is fairly annoying. Any thoughts would be appreciated greatly!

    Hi!

this has been posted many times before. Please search the board for similar cases . For example this specific for VISTA but works the same in XP.

Thanks for the info. I have searched here before, but hadn't found this. It looks like it should work. Of course, I'm always nervous downloading a utility, so I looked a little more, and found a fix that worked and is really simple.

I went to Start / Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Services / Security Center. On the General Tab, I stopped the service, then re-started it. The Windows Security Center alert went away. I then went to Start / Control Panel / Security Center. Now my ZoneAlarm Firewall is reported as running, and my ZoneAlarm Antivirus is reported as running and up-to-date. I haven't powered down yet, but hopefully this should be a permanent fix

Thanks for your help - you got me on the right track.
