    Default Kaspersky detects but....

    Hello!

Today i got an e-mail with a suspicious link in it. I clicked and Zone Alarm ForceField Advanced scan reported it's a malware. I uploaded to virustotal and Kaspersky detects it as Backdoor.IRC.Zapchast. Why Zone Alarm Antivirus/Antispyware engine not detected it?

    My system:

    Windows 7 x64 Ultimate

    ZoneAlarm Extreme Security version:9.1.507.000
    TrueVector version:9.1.507.000
    Driver version:9.1.503.000
    Anti-virus engine version:8.0.2.48
    Anti-virus signature DAT file version:1017462336
    AntiSpam version:6.0.0.2385
    ZoneAlarm Browser Security 1.5.149.0
    ZoneAlarm ForceField Spyware Scanner 1.5.53.114
    ZoneAlarm ForceField Anti-Phishing Database 1.2.104.0
ZoneAlarm ForceField Spyware Sites Database 04.080

    Hi!
Assuming you have already tried to update manually the antivirus and scanned again the file then you should know that Virustotal.com use an old KAV engine as compared to ZA (as well as latest KAV software). This is probably the cause of the different detection. If Kav is the only one in virustotal then it is a likely false positive.
