Default Performance problems in version 9.2

    Hi,
I upgraded today from ZA 8.x to 9.2 on windows XP.
I'm running a java application that reads data stream from an internet website. After upgrading I'm experiencing about 200 msec latency in data, which I didnt have before. Perhaps the new ZA performs more checks on data that causes delays? Can I configure ZA manually to solve this issue?
    Thanks!

    Hello,

Can you give us more details about this streaming application and where we can download it from? We like to test it against ZA Free 9.2 and see if there is a problem that needs to be fixed or find a work around for the issue if its present.

    Thank you

Take care of excluding "zlclient.exe" and "vsmon.exe" from your antivirus/malware tool.
Sometimes slowdown may depend on excessive third party scanning on ZA components that are by design always active.

here's an example of performance issue:
I'm running a real-time application that once in a while synchs my machine clock with a time server (time-nw.nist.gov) using Network Time Protocol (NTP). First synch each day might show that my clock offset is, for example, 1500 msec and adjust the clock. If I run the synch again right after it finishes, it will show an offset of less than 20 msec (due to clock resolution).
Once I upgraded to ZA 9.2, running the synch multiple times will always show offset greater than 250 msec. This shows that ZA adds more than 200 msec latency to the time server response (the time server returns offset and roundtrip delay, but adding 250 msec latency by ZA will cause the offset to be off by 250 msec).

    Ok,

Your talking about one quarter of a second delay. Thats completely acceptable.

A firewall must intercept all packets at a very low level in the OS and depending on thousands of other factors about the system its running on there can be these delays.
