Default [Solved] Zone Alarm and Cisco VPN difficulty.

Same issue here with Windows 7 64bit and ZA 9.1.503.00 with Cisco 5.0.07.0290.

If I run the VPN client with ZA running I get a connection to the VPN, my IP is setup and DNS servers set; but I can't connect to the internal network, all the packets are either dropped or discarded by the VPN client.

However, if I stop ZA first, start the VPN client, connnect then restart ZA everything works fine.

Also tried the connection with the shrew soft VPM client with the same result.

    Hello,

make sure you have enable the following advanced firewall options

    Allow VPN protocols
Allow uncommon protocols at high security
    Enable IPv6 networking

Also clear your firewall logs and turn on ALL logging then restart your PC and try the connection again. If it fails, then check your logs and if ZA is blocking the connection there will be something logged showing what is being blocked in the firewall logs.

Unhappy Re: Zone Alarm and Cisco VPN difficulty.

All of this was done... I also deleted the log file before the reboot. Nothing shows in the ZA Firewall log; but opening the actual log file it shows the following:-

Same exact issue here. Was just about to post a new topic.

The only difference being I have to completely uninstall ZA to connect.

Shutting down ZA does not help.

When I said "exact" I meant exact... well, nearly.

    Here goes:
    Lenovo G550
    Win 7 x64 (Professional)
    ZASS 9.1.507
    Cisco VPN Client 5.0.07.0290
I've tried everything above. Reinstalling. Everything I could find. I can only browse when I uninstall, not shutdown, ZA.

    Thanks,

    Lucas.

    karmavore,

You say you cant browse unless your uninstall ZA.

What do you mean by Browse exactly.

I can not connect to enterprise resources (those requiring the VPN connection) OR the public internet: Google, CNN, etc..

I've uninstalled ZASS three times now and every time I do I can VPN and browse to the above resources just fine.

    Thanks for the continued help,

    Lucas.

Cool Re: Zone Alarm and Cisco VPN difficulty.

Lucus, I can only get it working if I "Shutdown Zone Alarm Security Suite" before even attempting to load the Cisco Client.

Just disabling the firewall has no effect, I have to actually shut the whole thing down, wait a few seconds, load the VPN, connect then I can restart Zone Alarm.

I turned on ALL the notices and logging and see nothing in the firewall logs... Hope this may help.

    Regards,

    Neil.

Question is are you using IPSEC over TCP or IPSEC over UDP?

We're using IPSEC over UDP, if you have the same transport maybe we get get a test for IPSEC over TCP and see if this gives any results......
