Default ZASS Version 9.1.507.000 Problem Resolution

I upgraded by ZASS (no tool bar) to Verson 9.1.507.000. On the advice of someone here I had set my Anti-virus update frequency to every 3 hours. I originally had it set for every 24 hours.

I then encountered extreme delays in opening web sites from IE8 - WIN XP SP3.

I then dropped the update frequency to every 12 hours and now have no delays at all.

I also had heavy reads and writes to the hard disk. I simply powered down and left it off for 3 minutes and then rebooted. Now I have normal reading and writing to the hard disk for a couple of days now.

I also notice that only one System Checkpoint is allowed now. However, I created a Manual Checkpoint and notice that BOTH are still there. Thus, it looks like we will have to create Manual Checkpoints for System Restore each week while this problem continues.

Does anyone else have any suggestions to improve these settings with the present version of ZASS?

    George,

I seemed to have solved those problems if you carefully read my post. One other change I made was to reduce Program Logging to Medium (Log only high rated program alerts).

Its working fine for me now and I can safely wait until the next upgrade. I just wanted to know if there was a better way to do this.

I'm sorry I don't have that delay problem,

I have ZASS 9.1.507.000 on my Win XP SP3 set to check for AV Updates every Hour with no slowdown of delay on my HP Pavilion Desktop..

and I have 4 other computers with ZA Extreme 9.1.008 and 9.1.507.000 set to check for AV updates every 30 minutes as many as 16 updates per day.. Quick, fast and no interferince with my computers..

My attempted fixes did not work. I rolled back to version 9.1.008 and will leave that version on my disk until the second release of version 10 is released.

I am using ZASS without the tool bar.

    George,

If other programs get frequent upgrades, is there any way to have ZASS know that so it doesn't keep on recognizing them as totally new programs?

Sorry, NO, and that is by design..
The reason is, that any Program in the ZA Program Control List that is Upgraded, That program has changed since that last time Zone Alarm scaned it.. so nantually Zone Alarm will Alert you bacause the new Upgrade has changed and needs aproved or deneyed, bacause it has changed since last aproval..
