Default Some slowdowns after installing 9.2

So like a lot of other users I am now using version 9.2. First thing I noticed is that Internet Explorer 7 starts up slower than usual. Once it starts up it's ok.

Another thing that I've noticed so far is that even using my volume control panel takes longer than usual. If I bring up the volume control, it takes about five seconds or so before any of the controls become active. If I attempt to move any of the sliders they just won't respond until after that five second delay.

Edit: Wordpad is exhibiting the same behaviour.

Install ZA without the toolbar (custom install) and see if there is any difference. There is anything in ZA itself that can slow down items.

Also reset the ZA settings in case they are corrupted:

1.) Hold down the Ctrl and Shift keys together
2.) Right click on the ZA icon near your clock
3.) Choose 'Reset' from the box that comes up
4.) Choose Yes on the Reset Settings dialog box
5.) When prompted, choose OK to restart your system
6.) Follow the on screen configuration prompts after reboot

Allow for few days for your ZA to adapt to the system

I've tried resetting it, and have also tried a clean reinstall (including the use of cpes_clean.exe) but the problem is still happening. I think I may need to revert to a previous version instead.

Here's another question though - version 9.1.007.002 has never really worked properly for me, i.e. the thing about it detecting a new wireless connection at every startup. The best Zonealarm to date for me is 8.0.298.000. How is using 8.0.298.000 different from any of the version 9's? Would it be less secure? Or is the firewall principal of both versions essentially the same?

Of course, latest version is often better than older version since it contains fixed to bugs and potentially non disclosed security problems of past versions but if it does not work then you have not much choice.

You may also want to look for other firewalls, plenty out there. Just google free firewall to find them.

    Thanks,
