Smile ZA program control access question

Hi just installed the Free version of Zonealarm Firewall I have a question hope you can help in the program settings I have an application that is part of the operating system and it has question marks in all fields I can't see the whole name of the app I'm assuming it is the Application Layer Gateway from what part I can read,

How do I know if it needs access to the internet or not or is this part of the windows firewall? which the windows firewall is/was disabled by installing ZA.

Here is a picture so you can see

    Hi!
by right clicking on it and selecting "properties" or by just looking down the "entry detail" box you will get the details of the file in question. You can also enlarge the window and all columns at your wish to display the name fully.

You will know if it needs access as soon as it will need access and ZA will prompt you or set the program automatically if the file is recorded in the central ZA database or "good/bad" programs.

You do not need to touch anything in there, simply use the system as before

Ok I tried right clicking and it only gives the option to add or remove and enlarging it does nothing?

I did change a few things on access to the internet and trusted but not on the server end so I should change this back?

I use DynDns to keep an eye on my ip and update it kind of like having a static address this I need
to keep on but if your saying ZA will know and adjust then should I try to visit my server I will know if it works.

Also I find it odd that Java is not being recognized.

*I found I had to go to the top to drag and enlarge

*Ok I understand it now I need to check off remember this at the alert
and it sets itself just as I had done

I do have a quick question I was told that ZA hides you online is this true?

I'm looking to be anonymous visiting sites just curious if it does this.

    Thanks Lisa

Ok, good sounds like most of the things are resolved.
As a general recommendation simply don't touch anything in ZA program control. Leave as it is, also be careful on wrongly blocking any program that needs access especially if you are not sure. Also do not touch the firewall settings related to the trusted zone, you can end up with line drops or not connections. In other words, don't touch default, you are perfectly safe with default settings.

ZA hides you from inbound unsolicited connections but it does not hide you when visiting web sites. This is not the duty of a firewall.

Everyone is recognized on the internet by a unique number (IP number) The only way to be anonymous while surfing is to buy a dedicated service that function as a proxy to all your calls using their own IP number.
