Thread: firefox java error with anti-phishing enabled

Default firefox java error with anti-phishing enabled

I have just upgraded to the free zonealarm v 9.2.044.000. With anti-phishing turned on, when I try to bookmark a webpage, FireFox v 3.6.3, I get a java error message. If I then try to bookmark a page again it works but the Site Check no longer works and this also then gives me a java error message.

If I turn off anti-phishing in zonealarm, the problem doesn't occur and the Site Check button, of course, does not then show.

Has anyone any ideas of any fix for this?

It seems, I haven't got this option in my ZA edition. I have the newest free edition. Does the german version NOT have this option or could it be that it is automatically turned on without an option to turn it off.

EDIT: Aha, I installed again and now I chose quick installation, which installs the toolbar too. Now I have the option "anti-phishing" in the main ZA menu. I chose to turn it off and will test it tomorrow.

I look forward to seeing if you get the same problem.

I tested and can't reproduce the problem. I have Java 1.6.020 installed. No problems and any errors with bookmarks. Maybe a clean java install can fix your problem.

I have now re-installed Java and get the same results. I also removed old versions of the Java Console from my Firefox extensions but this didn't help.

As chance would have it, I have had an request from ZA to complete a survey, which I have done and so wait to see if they respond with a solution to my problem.

This is usually for statistical and service feedback. Don't expect an answer.

Thank you for your reply. I think that those Tech Supports are not for the FREE version of ZoneAlarm.

I have now also tried uninstalling Firefox and ZA FREE and then reinstalling them and the problem is still there.

Try the Tech Support Link anyway, the worst thing that can happen is that they may say NO? but then maybe they will help you resolve your problem with ZA Free?

Thank you ZA guru, GeorgeV for suggesting that I tried ZA Tech Support. I was amazed that they were willing to chat to me about ZA FREE. They finally couldn't fix my problem. They ended up suggesting that I disable Anti-Phishing until an update may fix my problem, which is what I have now done.
