Angry ZES on XP with 512 MB of RAM Constantly Updating -- And very, very slow

I upgraded from ZIS to ZES about 4 months ago. I am using

    ZoneAlarm Extreme Security version 9.1.008.000
    TrueVector security engine version 9.1.008.000
    Driver Version 9.1.008.000
Anti-virus/Anti-spyware engine version 8.0.2.42, DAT file version 1019623648
    AntiSpam version 6.0.0.2383
    ZoneAlarm ForceField 1.5.53.4

I am running Windows XP with SP3 and have 512 MB of RAM.

ZIS was fine, but ZES is a nightmare. It has really bogged the machine
down and, at times, it takes a minute even to open a simple folder.
But the most irritating thing is the updates running all the time even
though I have set it to update once in 24 hours. When the update is
running, I cannot do a thing ... and it takes about 15 min to run.
This means I can only work in 15 min intervals!

Further, the updates run only when I am working!! They never seem
to run when the machine is sitting down idle.

Further, why should updates take that long on a broadband connection?

I have seen this same complaint made a few years back in archives.
But, no solution was posted anywhere.

Is there any way around this? I am pretty close to calling it quits
as everything takes almost twice as long as it should.

    Thanks ...

"I am running Windows XP with SP3 and have 512 MB of RAM."
That is one of the Primary cause of your Problem..

Your Computer does not Meet the Minimum Requirements..

System Requirements for ZoneAlarm Extreme Security:

    Microsoft® Windows® 7*:
    32-bit / 64-bit , 2 GB RAM
    2 GHz or faster processor
    250MB of available hard-disk space

Microsoft Windows Vista SP1 or SP2 Business / Home Premium / Ultimate:
    32-bit / 64-bit, 2 GB RAM
    2 GHz or faster processor
    250MB of available hard-disk space

Microsoft Windows, XP SP2 or SP3 Home / Professional

32-bit, 1GB RAM <== You Need More RAM
    1 GHz or faster processor
    250MB of available hard-disk space

    Additional Comment..

I recomend that you Uninstall ZA Extreme Security, and Contact Customer Support (Click link in my Signature) and ask for a Refund..

I'm sorry to say this, but even if your Retured to ZA Security Suite, Your Current WinXP SP3 with 512 Ram does not meet the Current minimal Requirements for ZA Suite 9.1..

Microsoft Windows, XP SP2 or SP3 Home / Professional
    32-bit, 1GB RAM
    1 GHz or faster processor
    250MB of available hard-disk space

Thanks. When the "free upgrade" was offered, there was no mention of
    the requirements.

I guess I will find something else .....

    Thanks

Unfortunately, you may run into the same problem sooner or lator with other Security programs..

If you Added more Ram to your WinXP, you will find that your Broadband Connection will run faster too..

on my old 4 year old WinXP with two 512mb ram Chips, I replaced Both Ram Chips with 2 DDR2 1GB Chips for $50.00 and now the XP Runs much faster with 2GB Ram..
