    Default ZA Pro 9.1.603.000 and Windows XP SP3 Netbook

    Very curious problem!

    I have a PC with a fully-patched Windows XP SP2 and a Netbook with a fully-patched Windows XP SP3. Both had ZA Pro 9.1.507.000 installed on them and it worked perfectly (I love ZA!).

    Today, I upgraded both the PC and the Netbook from ZA Pro 9.1.507.000 to ZA Pro 9.1.603.000.

    The PC continued to work perfectly.

    The Netbook (basically, a mirror of my PC, except that it runs SP3) immediately developed these issues:

    (1) Programs opened very slowly and finally the Netbook froze and I had to hard reboot many times;

    (2) I could not connect to the Internet. No way, no program, no connection, period!

    I uninstalled and reinstalled 9.1.507.000 and everything's fine now.

    What's the conflict? Is it between ZA Pro 9.1.603.000 and XP SP3?

    Thanks for any ideas or help.

    Y.

    There is no Conflict with ZA Pro 9.1.603.000 and Fully patched Windows XP SP3..

    1.) Temporary Slowdown is normal with all new installs or updated Product for the first few days while ZA ajust to your computer environement..
    So there may be a few Deep Scans etc.. durring the Learning mode...

    2.) other possible reasons? You did not say much about your available Resouces on the SP3 Notebook? Available Free Memory, Hard drive space, other Compeating Security software?

    Try to find the culprit of the conflict by selectively boot your system. First try only ZA and Windows services and then slowly put back the unchecked items (first services and then startup items).

    1.) Click Start -> Run
    2.) Type MSConfig in the run box (or search box in VISTA/Win7) and click OK (ENTER in VISTA/Win7)
    3.) Once in MSConfig, click the Startup Tab
    4.) Remove the checks from everything except ZLClient
    5.) Click the Services Tab
    6.) Place a check in "Hide All Microsoft Services"
    7.) Now remove checks from everything other than TrueVector Internet
    Monitor and ForceField (if present), and click OK.
    8.) Restart your computer

    How does it work better?

    NOTE: You can place your computer back into a normal startup process by going back into msconfig and choosing the Normal Startup option on the General tab.
