    Angry Anti-Virus Anti-Spyware update

    Greetings,

Bought ZA 2010 internet suite 2010 - retail.

    Installed to Win XP successfully.

    Clicked 'check for updates'

    Downloaded 118MB update/upgrade version
    zaSuiteSetup_91_008_000_en file which translated to
    following product info:

    ZA Security Suite V 9.1.008.00
    TrueVector security engine V 9.1.008.000
    Driver V 9.1.008.00
    AV/AS engine V 8.02.2.42, DAT file Ver 993931520
    AntiSpam V 6.0.0.2383

Reboot after successful update/upgrade and then get
ZA alert that anti-virus "needs an update"

Clicked 'check for updates' and after 4MB download,
    'progress' window shows 2% downloaded.

By my math that suggests a 200MB file download.

    Huh?

Please comment if this is NORMAL.

    Hi!
first download can be big indeed 200MB is not possible since the entire antivirus bases are around 70MB.
Btw, you should remove the current version and install the latest (9.1.603.000) that you find here: www.zonealarm.com/zasuitedownload/

Follow up updates can be few bytes up to 1-2-3MB depending how often you check for updates.

    Cheers,

    Hi, Guru

While waiting for a response, I elected to do the
what I calculated to be a huge AV/AS download
    - overnight.

    The download was successfull.

Judging from some peeking during the night the
download did go over at least 70MB on last progress check.

All software seems just so much bloatware.

Sadly, it is in part a reflection because of the
decayed minds which plague the internet with viruses etc.

Thanks for the suggestion of a newer AZ version. I'll take
    it under advisement

It would be nice to have a size factor displayed with each
update download - to time the what may be lenghty downloads to
    overnight sessions.

    Cheers,

Unless you run a slow dial-up connection the update of the AV/AS signature should not take more than few minutes. Here is running fast and with no evident ill effects.

I would recommend the update since it also includes also improvements/optimization of the antivirus coding.
