    Question Frozen on Bluescreen?

I'm new to ZoneAlarm and just installed it. My computer re-boot, said "Windows configuring Do Not Turn Off" then froze on a blue screen.

    ...Is this normal?

Here's a picture of the screen:

    Comp Info:
    Windows 7 64-bit
    AMD Anthlon processor
    4 gb memory
    320gb Hdd

    I just got this error:

I'm going to try a system restore. Since I rebooted and it did the same thing even in Safe mode. Anyone know what went wrong? Thanks in advance.

If you are also getting BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) while in Safe Mode,
May indicate Possible Hardware problems conflicting with Windows 7 Boot up?
or may be a Coincident that Happened when ZA was installed

1.) What Type and Version of ZA, Only Version 9.1 is compatible with Windows 7

2.) Is this a New Computer with Pre-Installed third Party Security progreams? were they properly Removed before Installing ZA 9.1 or later?

Whenever posting here- or Contacting ZA Tech Support, it is always advisable to list your:Windows OS (XP SP 2-3 / Vista SP1-2 / Windows 7 32-Bit/64-Bit), your ZoneAlarm product Type and ZA version number , Brand of Computer and CPU, is it a DeskTop or Laptop, List any other Security Programs installed.

It is Sometimes very Difficult to Diagnose and fix a Computer from halfway across the Country, without All the Details, without the ability to sit in front of your Computer monitor and see what's going on..

    ===============
Try Removing Zone Alarm and see if Windows 7 stableizes?

use the new ZoneAlarm Removal Tool: Click here http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/fr...load/clean.exe

Save to desktop, right click and "run as administrator" This tool will remove all ZoneAlarm products from your system.

Please just download and run the tool, following the instructions. (you can un-install without net connections)

Please provide the Additional information Requested above, and if Uninstall helped you or not..

The BSOD occured while booting up. So I wouldn't be able to remove ZoneAlarm. ( I used another computer for the earlier post) I have windows 7 I have the default Firewall on my laptop and Microsoft Security Essential. I perfomed a system restore to the day prior, which zone alarm was not on my laptop, and it works fine. Dunno what happened, I used the newest version of the Free ZoneAlarm Firewall and my laptop is compatable according to the system requirements posted.

    Thank you for your Feedback..

I'm Sorry but there seems to be a Conflict between Zone Alarm and Microsoft Security Essential..

BSOD's are usually caused by 1.) Software Conflicts, or 2.) Hardware problems..

maybe other Forum User of the Free ZA version has a better experience and a possible solution..

I'm willing to try ZA I heard it was excellent. How would one go about switching over?

Have you applied these two MS hotfixes?
There are needed due to bugs in windows 7 to deal with third party firewalls.

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/976759
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/979278

Check you have them installed. Then, if positive, try to boot the system selectivity to exclude any third party software conflict. This way:

    1.) Click Start
2.) Type MSConfig in the search box and click ENTER
3.) Once in MSConfig, click the Startup Tab
4.) Remove the checks from everything except ZLClient
    5.) Click the Services Tab
6.) Place a check in "Hide All Microsoft Services"
7.) Now remove checks from everything other than TrueVector Internet
Monitor and ForceField, and click OK.
    8.) Restart your computer

    How does it work?

NOTE: You can place your computer back into a normal startup process by
going back into msconfig and choosing the Normal Startup option on the
    General tab.
