Default [Resolved] Uninstalling ZA; How to Remove Temp Folder contents

    Hi

I uninstalled ZA 8.0.298.000 using the zauninst.exe /clean method because I want to replace it with 9.2.057.000. I then deleted the Internet Logs folder and tried to clear out everything from the Windows Temp folder but the file Perflib_Perdata_5a0 cannot not be deleted as it is 'being used by another program'. I did not have any other program running at the time; I even stopped all systray progs. Is it safe to rename and forcibly delete this file and all other Perflib files in the Temp Folder, including 3 si.tmp files? All ZA.TMP files from that Folder have been deleted successfully.

The affected PC is XP Pro SP3. Please advise me on this issue.

    Thanks.

It would be best to use the ZoneAlarm removal tool to safely remove all traces of a previous install.

You can download it from here: http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/fr...load/clean.exe

    Hi garywa

that tool could not run due to a Runtime error -

"This application has requested Runtime to terminate it.....etc"

I now realise that the program must be run as an Administrator, and although I have an Administrative account which I have always used for installation/updating, I do not have an Administrator password for the PC. This is a genuine Windows PC.

How best to proceed from here?

Try this if you don't mind me dropping in?
After you have saved the clean.exe removal tool, then find that saved tool, right click it ....then you should get a drop down.......then choose "Run As aAdministrator" and then you should be able to activate the removal tool without a password, with the next step being (should be) Restart Your Computer, at which time the remnants of ZA will, or should, be removed.
    Good luck

I just tried it and it did not work; is clearly not an option. Surely there must be some other way to completely remove all Zone Alarm components from the computer? I have used ZA for years and I do not like Windows Firewall. Please help.
