Default "Inject Code" message with Outlook

I am lost. I cannot figure this one out. I have tried every spyware/virus scanner under the sun and nothing seems to work.

I am getting a security message from Zone Alarm (under these conditions: starting computer from cold and opening Microsoft Outlook for the first time in that session), three days ago since I downloaded a security update to Microsoft Office 2007 and update to Zone Alarm. I now get an alert: Microsoft Office is trying to inject code into Windows Explorer.

Sounds suspicious, so I deny permission. Outlook functions normally after that. But what is the deal with this? I am not a "computer person" (though my wife was a software engineer for Digital Equipment Corporation, so I do have some expertise to draw on here), so explanations of how to deal with this have to be in "simple English." What might be causing this, and how might I correct it?

Which version of ZA are you using? Probably an old or corrupted version since ZA automatically allows certified (signed) Microsoft executables.

If you have an updated version of ZA and your system is also up to date I would first start for malware cleanup (Malware Clean-up Guidance). If every thing is in order then I would reset ZA to start clean (and with defaults!) and check it was not an issue with corrupted settings.

According to the product info pages I am using:

    ZoneAlarm Security Suite version 8.0.298.035
    TrueVector security engine version 8.0.298.035
    Driver version 8.0.298.035
Anti-virus engine version 5.0.209.0, DAT file version 1016904742
Anti-spyware engine version 5.0.209.0, Dat file version 01.201007.7835
    AntiSpam version 6.0.0.1429

Update service expires in 244 more days.

Of Microsoft Outlook 2007, my version is 12.0.6535.5005

If I perform the 8.xx to 9.xx upgrade of Zone Alarm, does this negate the update service/registration I already have, or will it be carried over to the new version?

Also, the Reset ZA link in your message does not appear to work. I'm just a former Navy aviation electronics technician who edits Romance novels for a living, so I require one-syllable words though my wife is is much more savvy in the computer department and she can't figure this one out either.

    Hello,

We can only help you if your running the latest version of ZA Security Suite.

    8.0 is very old now.

Please upgrade to the latest version.

    http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/fr...seHistory.html

After you done that and your still having issues then someone can help you.

can you post possibly a little more information about the configuration and what the steps are to reproduce the problem?

    List ZA Type & version
    PC CPU speed
    PC memory size
    OS version including Service packs
    Version of software(Loutlook) having issues.
Exactly what is done to reproduce the issue in the application.

The best is to start clean. Remove ZA 8 from normal uninstall procedure (from the OS) and install the new.

You can update keeping the 8 settings but this usaully not recommended especially if you move to major new versions.
