    Default Anti-virus/anti-spyware update error

    Windows XP is telling me that my virus protection is out of date and when I click on Zone Alarm Extreme Security Check for updates it will download to about 10% the give me the error message:

    Task finished
    Anti-virus/anti-spyware: Error: download error
    System: Up to date

    I have two computers that I am running Zone Alarm Extreme Security on and they are both doing the same thing and I have 292 days left on my support and update.

    Hi!

    if you have a valid license please contact the official ZA technical support at the link in my signature (we are all users here). If both PC have the problem and ZA has always been working fine then it may be linked to your internet connection.

    Thanks for the reply. ZA has been working just fine up-to a few days ago. I have a 3 PC licence and my internet connection seems to be working normally. Have sent an email to Technical Support regarding this matter they sent an email back saying they would get back to me in about two days.

    Now I am getting a message:

    Task Finished
    Anti-virus/anti-spyware: Download was cancelled
    System: Check for update was cancelled

    Hi!
    the best is to contact when they are online (during the week). They will assist you on the spot.
    They are online now (for example).

    If you are not on the latest version please update to it. Try a clean install (do not retain previous settings or remove the old ZA before installing the latest). You find the latest version link in here:

    I stll think is some issue over the internet/DNS/etc.. especially if this has happen at the same time on two (three?) different systems.

    We are running ZA on 2 XP PCs and 2 Windows 7 PCs - all running 10.0.250. On one of the Windows 7 PCs which had not had checked updates in a while, we started getting Anti-virus / Anti Spyware updates: failed and same for product update. Tried several times with same result.

    Based on recommendations from another closed thread, we contacted support by chat they recommended and provided links for clean.exe and ZA version 101_065, which turned out to be 335 MB with an estimated download time of over an hour on my Comcast Cable connection. During download tried update again and worked this time, so cancelled out of the download and we seem to be fine for now. .... or maybe there was a problem with the download and it just happened to get corrected.

    Not sure, but issue might have been that get error if virus scan is running while trying to do product updates. Fortunately, can't test, but if get error again, will look for running scan.

    At some point the size of the installation will become a problem.

    10.1.065 - 336 MB (about the size of a small linux installation)
    10.1.250 - 226 MB
    93.0.014 - 147 MB

    Will report back if get error again and will check other PCs.

    Hello,

    please use the web installer (4kb) you find here: Looking for the latest version?

    This will ensure you actually only install the file for your system. This will reduce the size as similar to version 9.
    Please open your own thread. Do not hijack old threads not really on the subject of your question.
