Default ZA Super slow quarantining files

I did a full system scan 2 days ago and it took a LONG time (30+ hours) tho I do have LOTS of files (3TB of data in several million files). It found 4,399 "threats" so I let it start quarantining, repairing, ... Well 20 hours later it's still running eating up half my CPU. Seems to be about 2/3 of the way finished, taking about 15-20 secs to do a quarantine. vsmon has become huge !.4 GB. It steals the focus every 20 secs or so, so hard to work otherwise.

Win XP SP2 (I know SP3 should be)
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.13 Ghz 3 GB RAM

    ZoneAlarm Security Suite version:9.1.507.000
    TrueVector version:9.1.507.000
    Driver version:9.1.503.000
    Anti-virus engine version:8.0.2.48
    Anti-virus signature DAT file version:1023026336
    AntiSpam version:6.0.0.2383

Any way around this? I'm hesitant to kill and have to restart the scan again. And why SOOOOOO SLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOWWWWW? I've never seen this before in the several years of using ZA Internet Security Suite.

    Hi!
it may be normal if you have some many files for the scan to be slow especially if files are compressed (zip, rar, etc). ZA will open on the fly all of them and scan each component. Malware infections can also slower the scan. It is usually not normal to have more than 4000 infections unless you never used a security tool.

Your system may be also un-defragged and further slowing the process. Additionaly, running such an old SP you may attract thousands of potential malware due to software vulnerability.

IMO, you should update your OS to the latest version + all patches, run secunia tool to check your PC. There is no use of running a security tool on a unsafe/unpatched OS. Secondly, you should clean and defrag your system to improve performance. You can clean the registry and temp folder with ccleaner. Thirdly, your should remove your current ZA and install the latest version.

Also note that running other security tool (even if disabled) can further slow down the system. For example, spyware doctor, spysweeper, trojan hunter, win patrol, PCtools Threat Fire, Mcafee, Norton, Symantec, Adaware, SpybotS&D, WinPatrol, AVG, Avast free, NOD, Kaspersky, Comodo, Rising, PC Doctor, MS Security Essential, AVIRA and many others. If you want to troubleshoot issues with ZA please remove these tools (not enough to disable) and install back (if you really need) only after you see your ZA is working as it should. Double check you have really removed all other security tools by running this utility.

Also remember that, as a registered user of ZA, you can contact, free of charge, the official ZA technical support (24h/7 days) at the link in my signature.

    Hope this helps.
