    Exclamation All the configuration is lost

    If there is already a post with this issue I was unable to find it.

    For the second time free zone alarm lost all the configurations:
    - all the zones that where defined;
    - all the program rules.
    I lost everything. I work with nearly 80 zones and now I have to configure all again.
    Does anyone have a clue on why is this happening? Any help is welcome an much appreciated
    ZA version 9.2.057.000
    truevector 9.2.057.000
    driver 9.2.035.000

    Hi!
    corruption of ZA settings are usually related to the following issues:

    - You run conflicting software
    - Your PC tends to hangs/crash often or more lately
    - You are infected by malware
    - You force (either manually or automatically) the shutdown of the system (also called cold shutdown)
    - ZA is not able to save configuration on system directory (C:\windows\)

    Since there is no option in the free version to save the configuration file you can't recover the settings. You can try (at your own risk!) to copy the content of the C:\windows\Internet Logs folder and paste back on a new installation. You must do this in SAFE MODE, otherwise you will not be able to copy the files. This procedure may or may not work.

    Cheers,
    Fax

    Thanks for your answer, but:
    -I use the same software since the previous version of ZA (8.something);
    - the computer crashes maybe once or twice a year (I don't remember the last time it happen (ok it's weird to a windows );
    - I frequently run antivirus and antispyware (diferent brands)
    - I don't remember of performing a cold shutdown.
    - ZA creates the log files properly at logs default folder.
    about saving the configuration, in that folder I have 1038 files, some very old, so which ones should I save?

    Saving the configuration is good but what I really want is understand why is something that worked well for years, (I use ZA since 2006), the definition of zones, in this version is disappearing from time to time
    Thanks again for your time

    May be time to clean that folder (once you have removed ZA)??
    Which one? Just all of them to be sure....

    Those mentioned are usually the common factors for corrupted settings. If your ZA 8 worked well then I would stay with it. May be its time also to refresh your PC by re-installing the system? Or if the latest version keep failing I would start to find alternatives that works well on your specific system.
