    Default Total Uninstall - Win 7 64bit

    Hi Guys
I had a problem doing some upgrade work to a PC already running Win7 64bit and found a liitle known fact that reinstalling a wireless card is impossible while any anti-virus programme is installed.

I run ZAISS and ran the uninstaller, then installed the wireless card again; voila it starts working! Unfortunately it's running with instability. I'm scratching my head over this problem and found some ZA artefacts and wonder if that could be the problem. I found the "cpes_clean" and wonder if that applies to W7. I recall also there was a good step by step guide to totally cleaning up after any uninstall but cannot find it (or if it applies to W7).

Can any one offer any help please?
    Regards,

    Hi Fax
I found some files in the temp folders and possibly the registry. I just want to run all the steps to ensure everything is totally clean from ZAISS.

Latest versions of ZA (9.1. onwards) already uses CPES_clean by default. Its enbedded in the uninstaller.

Just use the ccleaner to remove any temp or registry left overs.

If you are more precise on the files/registry you found I can tell you if they are at all relevant for your problem. For example, temp files will have no effect on the stability of the system as well as dead registry entries.

The ZA components you may want to look for are (they may be placed in different location in w7 64bit - i.e. x86 folder):

    Folders:
    C:\Windows\system32\zonelabs\
    C:\Windows\Internet Logs\
    C:\Program Files\CheckPoint\
    C:\Program Files\Zone Labs\

    and files:

    C:\Windows\system32\vsutil.dll.
    C:\Windows\system32\vsdata.dll
    C:\Windows\system32\vsmonapi.dll
    C:\Windows\system32\vsinit.dll
    C:\Windows\system32\vspubapi.dll
    C:\Windows\system32\vsxml.dll
    C:\Windows\system32\vswmi.dll
    C:\Windows\system32\zlcommdb.dll
    C:\Windows\system32\zlcomm.dll
    C:\Windows\system32\vsdatant.sys
    C:\Windows\system32\Drivers\vsdatant.sys
    C:\Windows\system32\vsdata95.vxd
    C:\Windows\system32\zpeng24.dll
    C:\Windows\system32\zpeng25.dll

    Cheers,
    Fax

    Hi Fax
Many thanks. I ran CCleaner and the only folder left from your list is Checkpoint but it is empty. I did find the registration key file has remained though but doubt that could be conflicting with anything.

Looks like a new WiFi card to solve the problem...
