How can it be flawless given the two problems I described?

I'm not asking for that much. I just want what I saw in ZA 5/6 for
Windows 2000. Perfect recognition of New Programs and Changed
Programs, and only apps that access the web are added to the programs
list. I don't think that's too much to ask. In fact, that's the whole reason
I'm even considering ZA--because it's great behavior back in W2K.

OK, I'll contact support. If they gave me access to the source code,
I think that would be easier, though.

Good, this is the most important part. So the issue is logged and escalated.

No this not please... lol. Malware can compromise your system without the need of the internet (once installed). This is currently taking care by the ZA OSfirewall watching for dll injections, hijack of services, rootkit installations, registry modifications, etc. If you do not monitor these activities you will decrease substancially the protection that ZA can offer to users. This is why executables are added to the program list (smartdefense functions).

    Thanks,
    Fax

With SmartDefense turned off, all the properties of an entry in the list
have to do with web access, so it serves no purpose to have an entry
if the app doesn't access the web.

If there needs to be a list of scanned programs for malware detection,
that's fine, but why not make it a separate list. There's no added
value from adding such items to the web access configuration list.

This behaviour has been in ZA since smartdefense was introduced (version 6 onwards). If you want a different behaviour please report it to ZA directly. No use to keep insisting in here. We are just all users.

I will soon close soon this thread, since we have basically exhausted potential useful inputs for other users (the purpose of this forum). Please PM me in case you need to report any import information to this thread, so I can re-open it.

    Thanks,
