Default With ZA Privacy Gone, What is the Best Way to Block Ads

    Hello,

I read the reasons for the Privacy tab being removed from ZA products, although I was one that was happy with what this tab's controls could do. My question is what is the best way to block ads now that the Privacy tab is gone?

I have read that ZA's Firewall Zones can be used to prevent domains and IP addresses from loading, although I have had mixed results when it comes to blocking ads. For years I have been adding entries to my PC's Hosts file to block websites, but will block the entire website when the ad resides on the website owner's server. I also use Internet Explore 8's Privacy tab (set to Meduim-High, block Pop-Ups, and I add sites to be blocked). However it seems that some site's ads ignore these settings. Lastly, some have suggested using IE7Pro to block ads. The IE7Pro product has been recently updated, but I do not know how well it works with IE8 and how reputable/trustworhty this provider is. I do not want to load software from questionable providers.

Please provide suggestions on how to use ZASS's settings in version 9.3.014.000 to block ads. I am also interested in other stable services offered by reputable companies that can help me get back to ad-free web surfing.

FYI, I have ZASS 9.3.014.000, Windows XP SP3, and Internet Explorer 8.

    Thank you in advance,

I have been using the Simple Adblock that Sr Member naivemelody suggested and it is working out very well for me.

Thumbs up Re: With ZA Privacy Gone, What is the Best Way to Block Ads

    Additional information:

Here's a nice article I found -Click here > How To: Block advertisements in Firefox, Internet Explorer, Chrome, and Opera < a small review of some basic adblockers for various browsers; with nice diagrams.

Remember these adblocking software will either 'block' or 'hide' most ads, not 100% - but it will offer some good relief nevertheless.

    To all,

Thank you for the advice. I downloaded and installed IE7Pro. However, after looking at the support forum that IE7Pro has it is clear that their forum support provides no where near the level of support offered by this ZoneAlarm forum. Also, I have read that for some time now IE7Pro customer support is not what it used to be.

    Thank you again,
