    Default [SOLVED] 'Anti-virus needs an update' --> Proxy settings + server exceptions

    Hi,

    I currently have a message that says my 'anti-virus needs an update: click Check for Updates'.

    I go into the Anti-virus/Anti-spyware section in the control panel, click 'Update Now' and an 'Update progress' window appears, which says it's trying to connect to the server.

    However, this has failed every time, saying that it can't make a connection. Why is this happening and how do I update it?

    I'm running the most recent version of Internet Security Suite.

    please contact the official ZA technical support at the link in my signature. Give them all the details of the problem and they will help you to troubleshoot the issue.

    Solution to the problem

    Hi all; here's how ZA tech support suggested I fixed my problem, and it worked.

    I use Firefox but, apparently, this can only be done through IE (as the agent told me: 'ZoneAlarm will use Windows Portocols [sic], not FireFox').

    Please try the following:

    1. Open Internet Explorer -> Tools -> Internet Options
    2. Go to the Connections tab
    3. Click the LAN settings button
    4. In Proxy Server the checkbox is already checked
    5. Validate the proxy server information (if incorrect, fix it and it should work. If the updater does not need to use the proxy server, then continue)
    6. Click advanced in the proxy server box
    7. In Exceptions, add kav8.zonealarm.com
    This worked for me!
