    Default Firewall blocking needed utilities

I have a VPN connection to one of my customers for remote support. The connection is in the Trusted Zone. I have several issues; (1) I cannot use Windows explorer to access some shared resources. (2) I cannot use the NET USE command in a DOS shell to map a network drive (3) In SQL Server Enterprise Manager, I cannot register a remote database server. Interestingly enough I can ping the remote machines and also establish a VNC remote control session. All this stuff has worked for me in the past. I can shutdown Zone Alarm and then gain access to all these items.

What has changed, you ask? I have recently upgraded my hard drive and re-installed all my software. The difference between what was done in the past and what was done on the new hard drive is that I didn't perform these tasks while in the Zone Alarm learning mode, so I suspect that may have something to do with it. I can look at the log file and see where the traffic has been blocked. I'm unsure as to what needs tweaking to allow me to re-gain access to these network resources. Any help would be appreciated.

It is Sometimes very Difficult to Diagnose and fix a Computer from halfway across the Country, without All the Details, without the ability to sit in front of your Computer monitor and see what's going on..

Yes, Allow VPN Protocols is checked in Firewall advanced settings. I have no issue making the VPN connection. My issue is with using the above mentioned utilities to gain access to remote resources. How do I reproduce the problem???? It's easy... with Zone Alarm up and running I cannot access the resources. When I shutdown Zone Alarm, no problem.

    Detail:
Window Explorer - Windows cannot find \\PC123\Temp
DOS NET USE Command - System error 53 The network path was not found

Please note that the issue with Enterprise manager has gone away.

Zone alarm log indicates rule EXTblockAll2 was used.

You may want to try to reset the ZA settings and start again in learning mode. For resetting the settings you have to:

1.) Hold down the Ctrl and Shift keys together
2.) Right click on the ZA icon near your clock
3.) Choose 'Reset' from the box that comes up
4.) Choose Yes on the Reset Settings dialog box
5.) When prompted, choose OK to restart your system
6.) Follow the on screen configuration prompts after reboot

Thanks for the tip but unfortunately that didn't work. After performing the reset, I still have to shutdown ZoneAlarm in order to use Windows Explorer to access the remote shares. At least this isn't a show stopper as I'm able to get the job done, albeit without ZoneAlarm running, but I'm open for further suggestions so that I don't have to shutdown my AV and firewall.

    Thanks!
