So I spent the entire weekend going out of my mind trying to solve the blue screen error with Zonealarm Free Firewall version 92.057.000 and Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. Let me try and provide as much detail as I can.
As per the instructions on this forum, I installed the KB981889 hotfix before installing Zonealarm (only after pulling my hair out reinstalling Windows and various drivers over and over again). Initially it worked. I no longer had blue screen crashes or automatic reboots every 10 minutes or so and it managed to last me one whole Sunday with no problems. An important point to note here is that I was at home, on my home wireless network.
On Monday upon returning to work, I needed to join the wireless network at the office. It's similarly set up as the home network (I set up both networks myself anyway). Within minutes of joining the work network the PC crashed. It only crashed once though, so I crossed my fingers hoping that will be the only time. Maybe it needs to crash *once* every time it joins a new wireless network!
However, back at home at the end of Monday, it got worse again. It started crashing and rebooting like how it was before applying the Microsoft hotfix. So I guess the hotfix didn't work.
I have the relevant dump files but they always point to ntkrnlmp.exe as the culprit and not vsmon.sys or netio.sys like most other people if it's of any help.
