Default ZA BSOD just plain FAILS on Windows 7 64-bit

    Hi,
I'm installing my new laptop Dell studi 1747 Intel Core i7 CPU Q720 with 64 bits Windows 7 4Gb memory. First application I installed was Zonealarm Extreme security version 9.3.014.000 and now I'm getting the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) all the time.

First I have installed all needed updates for Windows 7. Removed the uninstalled version of mcafee that came with the machine.

Has anyone have a solution for this problem. Had it already 3 times after installing Zone alarm. The installation of ZA was succesfull, could update the av/as definitions and did the first scan.

    Help very much appreciated.

    Kind regards,
    TFM64

If you did not use the Special Removal Tool downloaded from McAfee web site, then you may still have some Remnants of McAfee that are Blocking or corrupting the ZA Install.. See Links below..

I have now removed mcafee with the mcpr.exe tool, without removing ZA.
After reboot the machine didn't let me log on anymore; did get the login screen but after that only a black screen with a white mouse cursor. After disabeling ZA at startup with msconfig I was able to reboot again.

Reinstalled ZA and now seem to be able to logon again. Not sure if this has resolved my problems. Will now install other applications. If I get any new BSOD's I will report back here.

    Kind regards,

    Problem still there.
Now installed some minidump utils to see what is going on. Not sure now if this is related to ZA.
The last three dump files show as Bug Check String:
    FE - BUGCODE_USB_DRIVER - USBPORT.SYS - HDAudBus.sys
    F7 - UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP - ntoskrnl.exe
    3B - SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION - mfehidk.sys ntoskrnl.exe

I'm not an expert at this. Any pointers would be very much appreciated.

I seriously doubt that you are going to solve this problem. I am a very, very long-term user of ZoneAlarm, have used it on multiple computers, many operating systems. However, it just plain FAILS on Windows 7 64-bit. I tried for a month in June. Finally quit. It wasn't my drivers, wasn't my hardware, wasn't W7. It was ZA! After uninstall, no more BSOD. Everything now works just fine.

I'm sorry you are having a problem with Zone Alarm on Window 7 64-bit..

I have had no problem installing or running Zone Alarm Security Suite 9.1 and 9.3.014 on Windows 7 32-bit and Windows 7 64-bit Desktop computers,

I currently have Zone Alarm Extreme 9.3.014.000 installed on two Windows 7 - 64-bit computers with no problems..
