Default No automatic startup of ZA Free in Windows 7!

    Hi there,

I use ZA for years. Had no problems so far.

But now (I can't remember if it already worked on Win7) ZA doesn't start automatically after booting.

I got a message that I should upgrade to the newer version 'cause a G... (can't remember the name) trojan or something can infect the system. So I downloaded the new version.
Now I'm using german version 9.2.058. When I start ZA manually it works. It neither works when I put it into the startup folder.

    Please help.

    TIA
    wegu

Right Click on the ZA Tray icon..

Click on the ZA Security Control Center

    Now click on Overview option

    Click on Preferences

Half way down the page in the "General" section

Make sure there is a Check mark on " Load Zone Alarm on startup"

Now shut down the control center and Re-boot computer..

Zone Alarm should now start when the Computer starts..

    It's checked.
It's also listed in msconfig -> systemstart as automatic startup.

I found the message I got to update to a newer version, it's german but I'm sure you know what the message means. Can't include a screenshot, so here we go:

    Title: Zonealarm Service-Agent
    Text:

Choice between remind me in xxx days or download now.

I do not use the FREE version: But here is what I suggest

If you do not want Product Update Notice: change Option from Automatic to Manual

Click on Overview, Click on Preference and Check Manual option
Here is the Overview Screen shot, you can see under Overview the Preference option.

    Hi,

I don't care about automatic or manual update. I just wanted to describe the message, which occasioned me to update the firewall to 9.2.058.

I don't know if the update was the reason, that there is no automatic startup of the ZoneAlarm Free under Windows 7, or if there is no automatic startup at all (with any version under Windows 7).

    thanks

Something went wrong on you computer during the Install process that changed your startup setting on your computer..

Here is how to Re-enable the Automatic Startup..

Click on the Z Tray icon, click on the Zone Alarm control center option..
    click on Overview
    click on Preferences
make sure there is a checks mark in front of
    "Load Zone Alarm at Startup"

    close Zone Alarm Control Center
Reboot computer... ZA should now load on startup..

Now if you are not seeing the Zone Alarm Icon in the System tray..
after computer boots up, that is a New Feature on Windows 7, that Automaticly HidesTray Icons.. there is a little Up Arrow on the lower right side on Winows 7 system tray that pops up a window that lets you change the settings on Tray icons..
