Question [SOLVED] ZA Firewall Blocking Wireless USB Connection

    Hi,

For a couple of months, I've had inconsistent internet connection, meaning I don't always get internet connection when I boot up my computer. I think this might have started with ZAX version 9.3.014.000

Since my computer doesn't have internal wireless, I've been using a wireless USB Adaptor. I had been using ZyXel G-202. Then, this week I bought MediaLink MWN-USB105N.

Yesterday, I upgraded ZAX to 9.3.037.000, and I noticed that I had no problems connecting online when ZAX is not activated.

Also, my all my Firewall connections are on TRUSTED. I have a 2WIRE DSL, which I type in gateway.2wire.net for GATEWAY - DNS - ROUTER - DHCP. And then I have localhost. The other websites on the list for trusted are Microsoft.

Does anyone know what is happening?

    Any advice?

    Thanks,
    CJ

ZA may be not compatible with that device? The device may use ad-hoc software instead of the zero wireless configuration by Microsoft? This is usually the problem with externally attached devices, they just bypass ZA and then not working correctly or they are not recognised.

Try to reset ZA and start from scratch in autolearn once you have ensured to give XP the control of the device rather than zyxel ad-hoc software.

So you're saying connect to wireless via Windows Wireless Network Connection, and not the software accompanying the USB Adaptor?

I'm not quite sure how to do that...

Yes. The wireless adaptors I know give this custom option during the software installation. You only need to install the drivers and not the software (and obviously be on XP SP3 to get WPA support). The manual (page 24 and pages 91-102) makes refers to different way of managing the device and there is an appendix on zero configuration.

    Thanks.

Now I can use ZAX with Internet Connection. I got another problem with ForceField and Firefox. See the ForceField forum.
