    Default uTorrent Zonealam Free=IRQL Crash.

    Hi!

What has happened to ZoneAlarm lately? I have use uTorrent and ZoneAlarm (Free) for years and everything worked perfect. Until recently when i started to get BlueScreens.

    IRQL_DRIVER_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL.

uTorrent blames ZoneAlarm for this. And i think they are right. As soon as i disable ZoneAlarm everything works perfect.

Another problem is that vsmon.exe EATS upp my CPU power when downloading. Easy 50-60%.

What to do? Im thinking of getting a better Firewall. But i dont know yet.

    Im using ZoneAlarm versio 9.2.057.000
    TrueVector Engine 9.2.057.000
    Driver version 9.2.035.000
    Browser Security 1.5.227.0

OS used? XP? Windows 7? Installed a new version of the uTorrent? I don't use P2P, so I don't know but ZA was never P2P friendly due to its inability to open ports.

This is not an indication its a ZA fault, system may crash due to bugs or corruption in the system triggered by other software in combination with ZA. Fixing teh corruption or buggy software will also solve the problem but you don't know which one... so ZA is the easy victim

This usually depends on the overall resources available to ZA to use. In low end PC or with clattered ones the consumption may be higher. Try to free up more RAM, defrag your HD, clean it up. Also remember to exclude vsmon and zclient from your antivirus solutions or security tools running.

I use XP (all updated). And i use the latest uTorrent client.

Well, ZoneAlarm never behaved like that before until i started to update it. Then it got all wacky.

Maybe a easy target to blame ZoneAlarm...but to me it seems well deserved.

    I see two options:

    1) Use the ZA that worked for you. First and easiest option. Apart from drivers update, ZAfree versions offers very similar functionalities between them.
    2) Try to update to the latest version. Remove the current before installing the latest and do not keep any settings

Of course it is easy to blame ZA but it does not help to really foresinc the origin of the problem

For 1. You find old versions here
For 2. You find current version here
