Thread: BSOD after ZA Pro update to 9.3.014

Default BSOD after ZA Pro update to 9.3.014

I tried to update Za Pro from version 9.0.114 to 9.3.014.
Windows XP Pro (version 5.1, build 2600, SP3, weekly updated) crashes, BSOD and all.
Just to be sure I didn't make any mistakes I tried the update twice. Same result.

Reboot in safe mode, uninstall ZA and then re-install the old version did help.

Did anyone else have similar experiences?
The ZA helpdesk could not help me (not even with the safe mode / uninstall suggestion).

Which security tool you have installed peraps AVAST 5. I have seen reports that their webshield cause BSOD with ZA.

Then not sure what to suggest apart from a selective boot removing any third party software other than OS standard.

    1.) Click Start -> Run
2.) Type MSConfig in the run box (or search box in VISTA) and click OK (ENTER in VISTA)
3.) Once in MSConfig, click the Startup Tab
4.) Remove the checks from everything except ZLClient
    5.) Click the Services Tab
6.) Place a check in "Hide All Microsoft Services"
7.) Now remove checks from everything other than TrueVector Internet
Monitor and ForceField (if present), and click OK.
    8.) Restart your computer

    How does it work?

NOTE: You can place your computer back into a normal startup process by
going back into msconfig and choosing the Normal Startup option on the
    General tab.

    Hi,

Just (literally) upgraded ZAP as per the OP and also have BSOD. Tried reboot 3 times with same result. Actual BSOD message reads (I can't see the first few characters as my screen size is not optimal for BSOD messages):
    ...STOP: 0x0000008E (0x00000005, 0x8053AC31,0xA66B5A60, 0x00000000)
    Beginning dump of physical memory
    Physical memory dump complete
    Contact your system administrator ............(etc)
As the message concerned physical memory I am running the system check program (available from F12 at boot) as I type, but it sounds like a ZAP upgrade problem (haven't had one of these in a while), so once checks complete I am also going to uninstall ZAP in safe mode, then install old version - and I'm really glad I backed up my ZAP settings just before upgrade.

Can't give you the full machine specs (due to BSOD) but it's a Dell mini tower with dual-core processor and 4 GB RAM, running XP SP3 (all updates installed), no other firewall, ESET NOD32 AV, Windows Defender anti-malware, no other security running. System was running fine until I rebooted after ZAP upgrade then immediate BSOD just (about 10 seconds) after the Windows accounts login screen appears (BSOD during any login attempt or even if login screen left up without login).

Last reboot was last week at Windows update - no issues. I'm typing this on my Ubuntu laptop as desktop still running checks from BSOD.

I don't think selective booting is a fix - IMHO Checkpoint have an issue with the last update and they need to fix it. The chances of common software at boot between myself and Hapi has got to be pretty remote, and I'll bet that this problem mushrooms as more people apply the upgrade to XP machines over the next few days - I upgraded within 20 minutes of the ZAP pop-up notifying me.

Please do not hijack other users threads. To report a BSOD and get it troubleshooted and eventually logged you need to contact the official ZA technical support at the link in my signature. We are all users here.

    Thanks,

OK, I shall choose my words very carefully.

Just for the information of the OP, and any other users that find this thread and have similar problems, in my case reverting to the previous level of ZAP and reinstalling my backed-up configurations has fixed the problem on my XP Pro desktop PC. No more BSOD.

I have reported the issue to ZA Technical Support, as suggsed by fax.

Default BSOD after ZA Pro update to 9.3.014 revisited

My windows XP sp3 still crashes after an ZA Pro update. Unfortunately, as it is a work laptop, I cannot afford endless experiments unloading services and drivers.
I did however get a few minidumps analysed (by someone with a hobby).

Default Re: BSOD after ZA Pro update to 9.3.014 revisited

Unfortunately I did hand over the minidump file, not the symbol file (where ever that may be, whatever it may be) so that's all I got back

well .. if anyone feels like it .. have fun

I still run the previous version ZA Pro, I'll stick with that until the next release I guess.
