    Default How can I avoid Outlook new mail notification for junk mail ??

    Since junk mail lands first in my Outlook 2007 Inbox, before Sonic Wall analyzes and moves it, the "new mail" envelope appears on the Windows Taskbar and a bell indicates new mail. The envelope remains until I mark the junk mail as "read". I'd like to see the envelope only when I have non-junk mail in my Inbox. Any ideas about how to get around this, or to automatically mark junk mail as "read"? Thanks.

    You need to Check with MicroSoft on configuring Outlook 2007..

    This is a problem with "Outlook mail format",

    and Sonicwall Spam filter....

    Thanks for your reply, but I don't think it's addressing the problem that I have.

    Mail arrives in my Outlook 2007 Inbox. ZA Extreme Security 9.3 decides that it's junk and moves it to the ZA junk email folder without marking it as "read". Outlook won't let me create my own rule (to mark mail as read) against only the junk email folder. So, I have unread junk email, which causes my "new mail" envelope to appear on my Windows taskbar. I want to see that "new mail" indicator only when there is mail that remains in my Inbox (non-junk).

    If I could create a rule that runs only against the junk email folder (to mark all arrivals as "read"), I'd be good. Or, if ZA (Sonic Wall) could either not allow junk to land inititally in my Inbox or could mark the mail as "read" right away after moving it, I'd be good.

    I'm Sorry, That is just how Sonicwall Spam filter works..

    it it does not mark Un-read mail that is moved to the Junkmail folder as "Read" when it moves it..

    also, we have not gotten an answer from Sonicwall yet as far as if they are going to have an upgrade to support Outlook 2010 32 or 64 bit versions, or any planed changes to the way it handles Outlook 2007 mail..

    As of right now that is how Sonicwall works, we don't have any eta when Sonicwall will have an update for our users.


    As soon as we have an update we will let users know but it could be sometime.
